Originally Dalmatians were considered guard dogs for horses and carriages. It is their natural instinct to protect their beloved family members, and they were bred to run many miles alongside the horse and carriage and, through the generations their requirements for exercise haven't changed much.
They are a breed who are known to be "velcro dogs", desiring inclusion in all things family. They make excellent jogging and hiking partners, but also enjoy quiet family time just hanging out, snuggling up, and chilaxing!
When in the right environment Dals are amazing!
A Dalmatian puppy is so adorable and its what sucks you in. Step away from the cuteness overload!!
Remember, they don't stay puppies forever and Dals rapidly grow to an adult weight of 50-75 pounds (on average). They are full of muscle and energy.
Dals are considered a large-breed dog so, if you are not prepared to deal with a large dog, a Dal is not the right fit for you.
